About Us
- California Environmental Data Exchange Network (CEDEN) is the State Water Board's data system for surface water quality in California.
- CEDEN consolidates California's water quality data in a central location, where it can be easily accessed and used.
- CEDEN currently includes five different data types:
- Chemistry (Water Quality)
- Tissue
- Taxonomy
- Toxicity
- Habitat
How CEDEN data are used
- CEDEN data are available for use by the public, including organizations interested in water quality, scientists, citizen groups for reports and research purposes.
- The Water Boards use CEDEN data to assess surface water quality and produce the Integrated Report.
How do data get into CEDEN?
- Any user can submit data on their own or work with a Regional Data Center (RDC) that will assist the user in submitting data for a fee.

What is CEDEN 2.0?
- The Water Boards are in the process of updating the CEDEN data system, the new system is referred to as CEDEN 2.0.
